Title: more useful building tools!
Post by: Zachary Machary (drinking agent orange) on June 21, 2017, 12:29:32 pm
I think what would benefit the server a lot is more useful building tools. such as multi-weld or poly-weld as unevenly welded structures would crash the server or make it lag a heck-ton. And possibily adding advanced duplicator 2 would be a nice thing too, as it is way better and looks nicer than advanced duplicator 1.

Advdupe 2 is an absolute no because it saves and loads dupes from the client. This means that the client can build some mingey shit or make something exploitable somewhere else and then load it up on our server.

If you want to suggest some new tools, we would be happy to take a look at them, but can you please link them here?

polyweld makes multiple props into one prop, reducing a heck ton of lag, smart weld takes the boring part of welding like the other smart tools we have on the server.

They do have a point, it would reduce lag greatly.

Had heard of poly weld but never seen it put to use, would definitely support its addition.

Reduce lag? Nah, it most likely increases it. "Multi-blabla" tools are unreliable and create way to many unneeded constraints. And fact is: the more constraints your construction has, the more calculations the server has to do on it, thus the laggier it gets.
The best way is still to manually weld (AND NO-COLLIDE) your construction in such a way that it is only welded/no-collided to direct neighbouring props.
